Self Publishing Seminars

self publishing seminars
Are you considering self-publishing your own book?

Then maybe you can consider checking this opportunity:

http://www.booksurge2.com/publish/webinar/index.php?fromWebsite=Shelfari&adword=Site_webinar

It’s a free web seminar held on August 12th.

I’m not really sure how it works though~ it seems like a good deal cuz it was mentioned in an email I got from shelfari.com

Then check out http://www.booksurge.com/ !

I can’t say I have any experience as an author or customer to have any kind of informed recommendation however.

Well, hopefully I can find your guys’ books someday!
Thank you for your input Maryn Bittner. : )
It’s certainly better advice than anything I have to offer.

And thank you everyone else.

Never, since self-publishing of fiction is a losing proposition, big-time. It has its place and is well suited for poetry and niche non-fiction.

There’s a reason these so-called publishers were formerly known as “vanity presses.” The meat and potatoes of their business is authors whose fiction is not marketable enough for traditional publication, usually because it’s not well-enough written and/or the story is not especially good.

While everyone can name a favorite self-published fiction author who did well (but no one can name a current one who did not have substantial editorial input from someone who could write or edit at a professional level), typical sales figures rarely top 65 copies are are usually substantially less than that number. Often the figure hovers at around 2/3 to 3/4 of the number of friends, family, and business colleagues trying to suck up to the author or his/her parents.

Since 5,000 copies sold is considered adequate but less-than-stellar sales for fiction, one percent of that number is laughable, if it weren’t so sad, knowing the author had hopes and dreams.

Instead of self-Publishing Fiction, throw your money and effort into learning to write so well that somebody will pay *you* instead of the other way around.
