Me and a friend of mine are 14 and we need to get a literary agent. Our story is adult fiction. Any agencies?
Hey. Me and a friend of mine wrote an adult fiction book. Yeah, we know we are 14 but our grammar is good and the plot rocks! We gave it to a few persons and they fall in love with the book! It’s really cool! But anyway, we are gonna publish it in England but when we did our research, most companies will take seriously books that are submitted from an agent and not so much books that are submitted by the author their selves. The problem is that we don’t know agents that will accept a 14 year old and even worse, two of them! Do agents accept 14 year olds and two authors together? If yes, then please heeeelp! Pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! I beg you! Help! :s Thanks a lot!
At 14, you cannot enter a legal contract, so your parents will need to sign. That doesn’t mean you can’t publish.
You can find UK agents in the Writers’ and Artists’ Yearbook. Each will provide guidelines on what they’re looking for, how it must be presented, and how they prefer to be contacted. Follow the guidelines exactly.
That said, I suspect that even 14-year-olds who write much better than most can produce a marketable book for adult readers on their first attempt. Most people, regardless of age, can’t sell their first novel.
That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try to get an agent, but that you should, like all aspiring authors, prepare for the possibility of rejection and write something else that’s even better rather than letting rejection discourage you.
