In self publishing, is it really necesarry to hire a professional editor and an artist?
Cause i already had a friend who happens to be an english professor and he had already edited the grammars on my novel. and also, about the cover art, i already painted one and made a cover design. as a matter of fact, i already had it turned into a book, and all i needed now is to reproduce it so ican market it as soon as possible. my question there is that does all publishing companies requires the self-publishing-writers to hire their company’s editor and artist, or can i just give them my already finished and binded BOOK and pay them to reproduce it as many as i wanted?
If you self publish without hiring an editor, and you write the way you do, you are very foolish indeed. I cannot imagine a person who is an Elgish Professor looking at the way you write and not lauging. binded the book? Edited the grammars? No – you need an editor. Although it won’t make much difference anyhow because self published books never make their way into major bookstores – in most cases blessedly. And you can expect to sell about 100 copies – the self publishing average.
