WHAT INSPIRED THE TIME MACHINE BY HG WELLS? AND THE MOVIES?
for literature, we have to write a composition about the time machine book and both movies. i would greatly appreciate it if you could help me write this. the topic is: what was going on at the time they were written to inspire the book, the older movie, and the newer movie. thanks very much!
Here are a couple of facts that may help you:
H.G. Wells was a science teacher by training
He was also a student of Thomas Henry Huxley,a prominent Victorian scientist who promoted the theory of evolution.
These two facts seem to have played a role in the creation of Time Machine – the story does examine the evolution of mankind.
It also explores the notion of perfect society – utopia and imperfect society – distopia.
Wells was also a fierce social crusader – he was actually a socialist. He did believe mankind could achieve a type of utopian society and this shines through in Time Machine.
I`ve included a link that will take you to a page that has a lot of great (and easy to understand) information about HG Wells and the era he was writing. It`s not really deep, but should help you get a firm grasp, very quickly on how his writings mirrored his personal thinking.
Not sure how to help you with the movies/book comparison. I’ll keep looking to see if there are some good compare/contrast sites
NOTE: I just found a good reference about the films/book comparison. It’s the second link.
