After an agency accepts a query letter, on average, how long does it take for the book to be published?
I usually hear of it taking a year.
The agent has to send out the manuscripts and maybe schmooze over lunch. Then the editor who likes it has to get all his peers and bosses to like it (takes forever, they all have to read it). Then the contract is negotiated.
