how to publish a fiction book. material ready.?
Many writers believe their book is good so can’t handle the word “!!! NO !!!”
If you think you can still keep sending to publishers after hearing that, you don’t need an agent.
1) Find books similar to yours and copy down the publishers’ details. (Sci-Fi publishers won’t like romance novels sent to them, so get a list of publishers that deal with your type of book)
2) Phone them and ask what they need for submissions and who it would go to (“Dear Mr Thompson …” sounds nicer than, “Dear Sir/Madam …” – shows you have done your homework)
3) If there are more than 3 grammar / spelling mistakes per page, it looks unprofessional … so check your work
4) Send what they ask for (character analysis, first 3 chapters, etc) and ** who will buy it – eg, horse lovers, teenage girls, fairy fans
