Book Publishing Legal Issues

book publishing legal issues
Do I have to file a “Doing Business As” form for my websites?

I am starting a LLC, and operate two websites that have ads on them. However, the websites do not share the name of the LLC. My question is, do I have to file a DBA?

The sites are religious information sites that have ads on them, but no physical product is sold on them. I have considered two possibilities here. The first is that each is a separate business and I need to file a DBA. However, I have also considered that each is an informational page managed and presented by my LLC (and I could clearly indicate this on the bottom of each page), and in that case, I don’t see how it would be different than a publishing company making money off a book. In this latter case, I don’t know if a DBA is necessary.

I want to be completely legal and (even though I don’t foresee any issues) make sure each site is contained under the protection offered by the LLC structure.

Thanks!

Don’t waiste your time or money. If its not a commercial business why start DBA unless you are trying create some type of legal structure with subsidiaries then its your perogative.

Maybe this site can help – they have a phone number where you can call an ask questions
