Adam & Eve & Creation?
In that story about Adam being formed out of Eve’s rib. It seems like a primitive story and unbelievable. But, When I thought about it bit more. What if it’s about cloning. What if it’s about another race form beyond our range. What if they escaped a Nuclear Holocaust and some guy in the middle East wrote about what he saw them doing or heard something form someone else who saw gods doing something with bones and turning them into beings. Bone marrow has fat cells and bone cells. Teeth supposedly retain DNA for hundreds of thousands of years. Think about it. Why would a grown man write such a fqntastic story ? There were no major book contracts form big Publishing companies. He wasn’t earning royalties. Like Stephen King for his ridiculous stories. Paper was rare. It wasn’t cheap,highly easy to manufacture and over abundant. Only important things could be written by important people. Your comments or opinions ….
I think you have it wrong that eve was formed out of adams rib but they were really just one person.
Well you are obviously rejecting the option that there is a God who created us. (but that would answer a lot of the why would a man write … questions) Since it seems like I am answering an aitheist I will give an answer that you might like.
The Torah or old testiment seems to emphisize that there is a God and emphisizes that there is only one God. It may be an attempt to show that God created us along with everything.
Why specifically it says that woman was created out of mans rib? Well it points out that mankind is better than any other creature when it says something like it is not good for man to be alone (I am not sure where it is implied but if you read berashit in genisis you’ll see) . Then it also shows that woman is equil becasue it would not be good if she were above man because she’d be alone and if she were below man he’d still be alone.
I learned that from a tradition that goes back to when the Torah was given (or in your case written) in sinai.
