Publications to help me sell my manuscript?
I recently finished my first novel and I would really like to get it published(because that’s every writer’s dream, isn’t it?) I just need a little help knowing where to send my manuscript, query letters, that sort of thing. Now I’ve heard that the annual Novel & Short Story Writer’s Market and Writer’s Market publications are pretty much a necessity since I don’t have an agent and I’m going to try and generate some interest in my novel sans-agent. I was just wondering if there are any other publications that offer lists of publishers and agents(if I decide to go that route later), or any books you’d recommend that provide a lot of good information on how to formulate query letters, proposals, and things like that, since I have very little idea what I’m doing at the moment.
If it helps, my book is a comedy. I guess it’s comparable to a Kevin Smith film, except in novel format. If anyone knows any sort of publishers that work with books like that, please let me know. Thanks
The one most recommended by agents themselves: Jeff Herman’s “Guide to Book Publishers, Editors and Literary Agents.” It is quite excellent and comprehensive.
